Top 10 Alternative Songs of 2009

When putting together my list of Top 10 Rock / Alternative songs of 2009 I found a major problem. I have favorite songs so much. Trying to reduce my top 10 of all the songs I liked from 2009 is like trying to pick the members of the family that I love more than others.

Someone should not have to make such difficult decisions. I am able to give the 50 best songs much easier. After much deliberation and many changes, I believe they have identified the 10 best rock songs of the year. At least here are My Top 10 Rock / Alternative songs of 2009.

10 “Ride to California” by Paper Tongues

This is probably my favorite song last. I just started listening on the radio here in the last month. I love singing fast in the beginning and how the rest of the guys come to sing on the hook. I also like when the singer starts to make the final letter in the middle of the song. Great lyrics and a mash up to make a song sound fresh. I like to hear something new from a new band.

9 “Meet me at the Equinox” by Death Cab for Cutie

This is another fairly new song too. The singer has a happy sound of your voice was underpinned by strong guitar playing. I really like the lyrics, but I like the lines of “everything, just everything …” I have not really heard a lot of Death Cab for Cutie before but may have to pick up the album for this song.

8 “Champagne” of Cavo

They usually do not enter the screams on the hook of this song, but something about the song makes me love it. “Coulda been the champagne, champagne … coulda been cocaine, cocaine … coulda been the way he looked at me ….” Only the rocks.

7 “Kids” by MGMT

With his pace and almost sound synthesizer techno, I’m not sure that even qualifies as a rock song. I first heard in the local rock station, so I’ll say. Do Do Do Do Do dooooooo. I love it. I do not know if the letter makes sense, but it makes up the pace.

6 “Do What You Do” by Mudvayne

Mudvayne Cavo is another band like that normally do not hear the shouting style of singing. Once again, here are making my Top 10 list. Maybe, as some of the screams, after all. I like the sound of heavy rock song. Strong guitar, bass, drums and game screaming fit right in.

5 “Wheels” by Foo Fighters

The Foo Fighters are no strangers to hit songs. They have had several songs reach the radio, however, this is the first song I really liked them. The song only has good lyrics and a rock sound.

4 ” Savior” by Rise Against

Rise Against is another band new to me this year. “Salvador” is another pure rock song with great lyrics. “That’s when she said that I do not hate you, but I just want to save you …” Has a driving rock sound that makes you bob your head to the beat.

3 ” Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” Cage The Elephant

The elephant cage is similar to that MGMT are not normal “rock band”. I also learned that the local rock station, so I count on them. I love how the song tells a story and mixtures of strong guitar playing with a big hook.

2 “Sex on Fire” by Kings of Leon

What can I say about this song that everyone knows? This song and this group exploded onto the music scene this year. This song was such a success that the country band Sugarland did a version. Kings of Leon is my favorite band last. Something about the singer’s voice is so unique and captivating, if one could carry out too many times listening to an MP3 on an iPod, the whole album would have been in my possession.

1 “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon

Yes, Kings of Leon themselves in numbers 1 and 2 spot on my list. Technically, the whole album could make the list itself. To be fair to all the songs from other great bands out there and I kept adding “Concept”, “17″, “Closer” “Crawl” and “Be Somebody” to this list. Kings of Leon have to be the rupture of the year’s biggest band. A great classic sound of rock band with the most unique singers out there.
